Well, the Christmas holidays are over and the new year is in full swing. On our first day back, we were greeted with frigid temperatures that caused a few buses to be delayed and kept students indoors for the day (we don’t go out when the temperature drops below -25C). Inside the school, it was business as usual. Despite having been away for two weeks, students in Kindergarten through to Grade 6 got right back to their regular routines - albeit, I think everyone was a bit more tired than usual at the end of the day.
Below are a few pieces of information that you might be interested in knowing. Feel free to share this information with anyone else who you think might appreciate it.
May God’s abundant blessings fill your life and the lives of all those you love in 2015,
A Generous Spirit: Before Christmas, we asked you to send in donations of canned food, coins, cash and Canadian Tire Money, and you responded with great generosity. Over 600 canned food items were donated to the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard while close to $1500 in coins, cash, and Canadian Tire money was used to purchase gift cards for 7 needy families within our own school community. Many thanks.
January 16th PD Day: On this day, students will be staying home, but teachers, EAs and ECEs will be at school. Most staff will be working on report cards, but a few staff members will be re-certifying special qualifications.
Kindergarten Registration Week: Spread the word! St. Kateri is a vibrant, growing school, and we want to keep growing. Please help us by letting other parents know that our official Kindergarten Registration Week takes place starting on January 19th. Children who will be four by December 31, 2015 may be registered for Junior Kindergarten, and children who will be five by December 31, 2015 may be registered for Senior Kindergarten. Drop in any time between 9:30 and 3:30 to register. Please bring your child’s immunization record, a birth certificate, proof of your address, and a baptismal certificate for either the child OR parent. For more information, please visit OCSB Kindergarten Registration Webpage.
Report Cards: Report cards will be sent home on February 10th for all students. We will not be having a formal interview evening this time around, however phone or face-to-face interviews can be arranged directly with your child’s teachers.
Attention Grade 3 Parents: Along with your child’s report card, you will also be receiving a letter asking which French Program you would like your child to pursue in Grade 4 and beyond. Please take a look at the SKT Parents Guide to Junior French Programs for more information.
